The Aldeburgh Bookshop has been in business for nearly 60 years.  The new owners, John and Mary James, took on the shop in 2000.  In April 2005 we won the 'Nibby' (the Oscar of the booktrade) for The Independent Bookshop of the Year Award at The British Book Awards.  Last month in May 2008 was placed 4th in the Independent's list of The 50 Best Bookshops in the UK

Saturday, July 26th 2008: Julia Blackburn will be in the shop signing copies of her extraordinary memoir, Three of Us at midday.

May 2008: New book on Aldeburgh: We are delighted to announce the publication of a much needed illustrated history: Aldeburgh Revisited, a Portrait of a Seaside Town by Diana Hughes is published this month by the Aldeburgh Museum at the Moot Hall in association with the Aldeburgh Bookshop.   Profusely illustrated, this book tells the fascinating story of Aldeburgh from its earliest beginnings until the present day. 

May 2008: New online shop: We now have a secure site at our Online Shop to order directly from our listed stock.  We will be building adding to the list constantly, so please keep an eye on this site. 

We also run The Aldeburgh Literary Festival, which takes place on the first weekend of March.  Dates for next year's festival are 6th, 7th and 8th March 2009.   Click here to add your name to the mailing list.

Open Mondays to Saturday from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm (except Wednesday when we close at 5.30 pm)
